NYSDOT Schedules Meeting on Route 85 Pavement Reconstruction

The New York State Department of Transportation will host a public information meeting on Thursday night, Sept. 11, to discuss a proposed project that would replace and improve the driving surface and drainage system on Route 85 in the City of Albany.

The proposed project, which is expected to begin in 2015 and conclude in 2016, would involve reconstruction of the road between the point at which Route 85 travels over the New York State Thruway to Route 85’s intersection with I-90. Work would also replace and repair the existing surface drainage system, including improved ways to reduce stormwater runoff. Ramps adjacent to Route 85 through this stretch would be reconstructed. Curbs on the mainline of Route 85 would be removed.

The meeting is being held to provide the public with a chance to review the proposed plan and provide comments.

The meeting will be held at All Saints Academy at 12 Rosemont Street (at the corner of Western Avenue) from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Display boards will be set up for the public to preview from 5:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.

If you cannot attend the meeting, comments about the project can be made in writing to the project manager, Gregory Meyers, at the NYS Department of Transportation, Region 1 Design, 50 Wolf Road, Albany, N.Y. 12232. Comments may also be submitted via email to: gregory.meyers@dot.ny.gov.
