Schedule

Due to the closure of the former bridge on October 16, 2009, NYSDOT and VTrans accelerated the project schedule for the replacement bridge. To complete construction of the new bridge, several items had/need to take place:

• December 28, 2009 - the former bridge was demolished with explosives
• February 1, 2010 - the temporary ferry was opened to traffic
• February 5, 2010 - design approval for the new bridge was granted by FHWA
• March 17, 2010 - the bridge project was advertised
• April 15, 2010 -bid opening (letting) for the bridge project
• May 27, 2010 - Award of project to Flatiron Construction Corporation
• May 31, 2010 - demolition (clean-up) of the former bridge was completed
• November 7, 2011 – the new bridge opened to traffic
• December 31, 2011 - contract completion for the new bridge
• 2012 - Separate New York and Vermont contracts will restore the grounds, on both sides of the lake, adjacent to the bridge, to pre-existing condition
