The pre-screening tool has been developed to help the transportation industry and the general traveling public with choices in both OS/OW and legal vehicle routing. This tool will help to identify appropriate routes of travel and travel restrictions. Travel restrictions depict physical constraints such as closed or weight restricted bridges as well as constraints of a more temporary nature, such as maintenance or construction projects.
Due to the changing nature of some these restrictions, holders of monthly and annual permits are required to revisit their route prior to each trip to be aware of any changes. Other users are also encouraged to visit the site frequently.
This tool has been developed for the internal use by NYSDOT partners and represents the most complete and up to date information available on a statewide basis. It is being shared with our customers to facilitate communication in planning and permitting the movement of OS/OW vehicles across the state highway network. While this information is useful it does not replace the need of the user to field verify this and other information necessary for safe movement of vehicles.

FEATURES
The tool is driven by the user specified parameters of a particular vehicle (height, length, width and weight) and trip (start and end date). An interactive map displays potential obstacles to that vehicle and trip. Once the map is displayed, the following features are available:
- Zoom to location (county, city, town, village, place)
- Interactive zoom-in and zoom-out (dragging rectangle or click on map)
- Pan (drag/recenter map)
- Greater map detail at larger scales
- Identify (click on feature for additional information, such as roads, bridges and travel restrictions)
- Previous View / Forward View
