PROJECT_NAME
Empire Corridor Capacity Improvements

Albany to New York is the 5th highest intercity travel market on the Northeast Corridor (NEC). These projects reduce delays and improve reliability for passenger rail between communities along the Empire Corridor, which connects the NEC to upstate New York cities, and western destinations such as Chicago to the Northeast. The Empire Corridor Capacity Improvements project consist of three distinct sections:

Section 1:  Rensselaer Station 4th Track Project ID 1935.71

Section 1

Section 2: Hudson Line Signal Improvements Final Phase Project ID S937.47.372

Section 2

Section 3: Schenectady Station Improvements Project ID 1822.85

Section 3

Benefits for these projects include increased schedule reliability, reduced congestion and interference between freight and passenger trains, and increased capacity and efficiency. Resulting in less delay and improved intercity passenger rail operations in this segment of the Empire Corridor.
