2009 American Recovery and Reinvestment Act Resources
The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) provides funding to New York State for transportation-related projects, through the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT). NYSDOT has created this page to provide guidance and information to potential Sponsors. This guidance is intended to assist project Sponsors to advance candidate projects and maximize New York State's use of these Federal funds.
The ARRA is consistent with current Federal requirements under 23 United States Code (U.S.C.) (Highways) and 49 U.S.C. (Transportation) as well as 23 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) and 49 CFR as it applies to Federal-Aid Transportation Projects. The legislation includes a provision to redistribute unspent funds within our state, and if redistrubuted funds are not spent in the specified time frames, they will be redistributed to other states.
The ARRA provides great opportunities as well as real challenges for us all. Use the guidance and other relevant materials available on NYSDOT's Local Programs Bureau Web site to prepare and advance your candidate Federal Aid eligible Project(s). If you have any questions, please contact your Regional Local Project Liaison (RLPL); their names and contact information may be found on this page.
