Downloadable Traffic Data
Traffic data are stored in comma delimited text files (.CSV). CSV files can be opened using applications, such as notepad, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Access. This data is intended for analysis by the user.
The following webpage displays the location of each NYSDOT region:

There are currently eight data types available for download:
- Continuous Vehicle Classification
- Continuous Volume
- Short Count Vehicle Classification
- Short Count Volume
- Short Count Speed
- Average Weekday Vehicle Classification
- Average Weekday Volume
- Average Weekday Speed
These eight formats are defined in two documents:
Data files are downloadable for each NYSDOT Region by year from 2010 – current.
For additional information about NYSDOT Regions, Continuous Counts, Short Counts, and Average Weekday Calculations please refer to the Traffic Data Report .
Each data file contains all available traffic data that has passed NYSDOT quality control standards that is stored in the database maintained by the Highway Data Services Bureau. All traffic data within this database is subject to change as inaccuracies are identified.
